Restaurant Reviews
Nestled in the heart of the Laurel Caverns and conveniently located only a minute away from the Donegal exit 91 of the Pennsylvania turnpike, and an hour east of Pittsburgh. Out of the Fire is a local treasure for people who enjoy good locally based food. Out of the Fire started with a passion for family, freshness, and flavorful food. Out of the Fire Café believe evenings should be wrapped around a table with loved ones.
This is one of our favorite destinations as their menu offers something for everyone. They are sensitive to dietary preferences and many items can be customized.
A family favorite is their hummus plate (for the vegan) and roasted mushroom soup for the rest of us.

Pigeon Bagels and Coffee offers a friendly staff and the BEST bagels you will find in Pittsburgh. Pigeon Bagels and Coffee specializes in hand-rolled, kettle-boiled certified kosher bagels, offering sandwiches, bulk orders, pastries, and coffee. The shop is open Wednesday - Sunday from 7:30-2:30 ( walk-up ordering only ). I first discovered Pigeon when they would host pop-ups around the city at local coffee shops including ADDA Coffee & Tea (one of my favs — check out review here).
Everything from the product to the staff has been the best and continues at their storefront on Hobart Street in Squirrel Hill.
Now let’s get to the best part the VEGAN OPTIONS. Almost all of their bagels, with the exception of the Egg Bagel, are dairy and egg-free. They also provide vegan sandwich and spread options including house hummus and vegan lox w/ tofu cream cheese. If you are on the east side of Pittsburgh be sure that you stop for a fresh bagel (and trust me you will want to stock up).
flour is not only a neighborhood gem, but some will tell you it is the best pizza and italian in the Cleveland area. Dave Portney of Barstool Sports gave Flour Pizza Company at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse a very high rating.
The staff was warm and welcoming and the food was incredible. The options were plentiful, pasta, pizza, seafood, soup, and six different salads.
Let’s talk about the vegan goodness we feasted on, the smashed avocado salad (without feta). This salad was incredible with chickpeas, cucumber, feta, tomatoes, radishes, and cilantro-lime vinaigrette. flour makes fresh handmade pasta daily and their own sauce. If you are ever in the Cleveland area we encourage you to visit. At flour they seek locally raised and homegrown products harvested at their seasonal peak. Lots of green options, and if you ask they will omit any cheeses. And my mom loves their bucatini.
