Asian Inspired Broccoli
This is the bomb. In a quest to add more anti-inflammatory foods into my diet, I was determined to find new and different ways to prepare broccoli. Here’s what I came up with over the weekend.
Ingredients:
Fresh Broccoli (Cut into same size pieces)
2 TAB Sesame Seed Oil
1 Tsp Garlic Powder
1 TAB Soy Sauce
1 TAB Honey
1 TAB Gochujang paste*
*Gochujang is a korean fermented red pepper paste. This recipe calls for 1 TAB but I like heat and spice so we upped the portion size —up to you and your eaters ;) . I found Gochujang in my local supermarket, however if you can’t find this you could always substitute with sriracha or Huy Fong Chili Garlic Sauce.
Instructions:
Heat a skillet on high heat for 3 minutes — after warmed add 2 TAB of sesame oil and chopped broccoli
Saute for a few minutes
Mix garlic powder, honey, soy sauce and Gochujang paste (whisk)
Test for readiness and adjust accordingly (that means only you can determine when the broccoli is done, some like it swishy, other al a dente — this is your creation).
Serve Immediately
Can make it even prettier and add crushed red peppers and toasted sesame seeds.
OPTIONS:
Sauce the broccoli and sauce with raw cashews
Add Tofu and fry tofu cubes with the broccoli in the hot oiled pan
